Question: Can i take junel 1mg-120mcg as emergency contreception?

I am afraid that single tablet of Junel will not be an effective option as emergency contraception. I will suggest Tab i pill or PLAN B as emergency contraceptive.
These tablets are most effective in first 24 hours or maximum upto 48 hours of unprotected sex.

Ive read with other tablets you can take more than one dosage for example 4 one day an d4 the 2nd

Thanks for consulting at HCM. I have carefully gone through your case, and I think I have understood your concern. I will try to address your medical concerns and would suggest you the best of the available treatment options.
1] Firstly let me tell you that single dose of single tablet JUNEL will not work as emergency contraceptive.
2] Emergency pills work by creating out of date changes in the endometrial lining by virtue of high dose of hormones in them. This makes endometrium non compatible for implantation of embryo.
3] To have such effect you need to take total 10 tablets of JUNEL, say 5 stat and 5 after 12 hours. But this will be the dose that will invite all sorts of gastric troubles; like nausea,vomiting, giddiness, bloated sensation and so on.
4] Also low dose oral pills like OVRAL L, that contain 150 mcg of levonorgestrel will also need 5 tablets at a time to make 750 microgram of levonorgestrel to have its effect on endometrium.
5] Due to need of large doses and it's consequent side effects , you will need antiemetics and antacid tablets to be taken before use of these tablets. Like Tab.ONDANSETRON 4mg Twice daily or Cap PAN DSR Once daily before breakfast.
6] Using PLAN-B or i pill are other options available.
7] In case of using any option, emergency contraception medicines act more effectively when used within 24 hours of unprotected sex ( if done during the most fertile days of the cycle -day 10 to 20 of the cycle) ,they are to be taken at least within 72 hours to have their effects. All this can change the coming cycle to be delayed or slightly heavy or prolonged.
8] In the end , I will suggest to have good sex counselling done. Learn about effective and suitable method of contraception. It is better to use routine methods than emergency method. This will avoid unnecessary anxiety and stress.
