Is It Safe To Use Headphones During Pregnancy?

Question: Hi Dr Koregol

Just wondering if fetuses in utero can hear music if you play it to yourself through your own headphones? I have played my headphones rather loud most nights throughout my pregnancy just for my own enjoyment and never have put headphones to my tummy. But how much of this would be able to be heard by a baby and would it be extremely loud to a baby? Can music through your headphones on your own ears cause hearing problems in your baby?

Brief Answer:
No possibility of hearing loss

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Baby will be able to hear if loud sounds are around the tummy.

Ear phone sounds are very mild and baby will not be able to hear it. Hence there is no possibility of any harm to baby's ears.

Dont worry about it and continue enjoying music.
