Brief Answer: No, Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing back. No, Nexium usage on long term may not be the cause for nausea. Nexium contains Esomeprazole which is a proton pump inhibitor which reduces acid secretion through inhibition of the H+ / K+ ATPase in gastric parietal cells. By inhibiting the functioning of this transporter, the drug prevents formation of gastric acid. This may sometimes reduce the absorption of the other drugs but rarely cause nausea as a side effect. I still believe that the metoprolol or another drug you were on for other condition could be the cause for nausea. Also Nexium may not help to get rid of nausea if it is caused by some other drugs specially when nausea with central focus rather than of stomach causes. Regards,

Brief Answer: Yes, metoprolol and atenolol are related Detailed Answer: Hi, Yes, both Metoprolol and Atenolol are of the same class and have side effect profile nearly same. Atenolol is not as risky as metoprolol and less likely to cause nausea. You can consult your treating doctor to be placed on Norvasc. regards,
