Posted on Wed, 4 Feb 2015
Question: My wife had a DVT( ) after 2nd baby delivery ( after 1 month) and we have consultaed the doctor in Manipal hospital XXXXXXX and they have suggested the CLEXANE 60MG/0.6ML for 3 months and now we have completed taking inj CLEXANE 60MG/0.6ML for 3 months. and we have consulted then again ( now no pain and leg is back to normal and my wife can walk without any issues)

but now doctors are saying you have to take CLEXANE 60MG/0.6ML inj untill you stop feeding the baby? please suggest.. is there any tables can be taken for the DVT ( we would like to continue feeding the baby) instead of CLEXANE 60MG/0.6ML inj.

Note - Initialy they said you can stop the inj after 3 months..

Brief Answer:
It can be stopped

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

Usually clexane is given for 3 months. There is no added benefit of taking till 6 months.

Usually the protocol varies from different hospital. After 3 months repeat Doppler can be done and decision needs to be taken to continue or stop. It's either 3 or 6 months. I suggest you to dicuss with your doctor to switch to oral anticoagulant like warfarin. It is safe during breastfeeding, but still you need to monitor baby prothrombin time.

To start warfarin you need to consult your doctor and get the prescription.

Hope I have answered your query. If any further queries are there I would love to help.
