Question: For children between 8-12 years, can we give Swine Flu vaccine ? If yes, same dose as adults or is it different?

Detailed Answer:
Hi...You should give swine flu vaccine for kids between 8-12 years.

The dose and schedule -

1. 8 to 9 years kids who have not received any flu vaccine previously - 2 doses of 0.5ml each 1 month apart. After that yearly once.

2. Above 9 years kids who have not received any flu vaccine previously - 1 dose of 0.5ml each 1 month apart. After that yearly once.

3. Any kid who has received flu vaccine previously - only single dose.

We have completed scheduled vaccine course that is needed till 10 years for my kid, that includes Influenza vaccine. Is this mean we need to go for a Single dose now ?
Or
Influenza is different from flu vaccine you have described in the above post ?

Hi...Influenza and Swine are the same. If you have given Swine flu or Influenza more than 1 year back you need to give it as a single dose of 0.5ml again. Otherwise no need to repeat it.
