default
Posted on Wed, 3 Dec 2014
Question: Yes. I am going to start lisinopril 10 mg now but I take metformin 500 mg and Caduet 5/10 at night. MD

who ordered this medicine said he sent a note to my internist to consider stopping Hydrochlorothiazide and potassium in the future, but I will not be seeing my internist for 6 more months. So will the K or
HCTZ cause me a problem in the mean time?

Brief Answer:
Closely monitor potassium levels...

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking to HCM!

If you start lisinopril 10 mg and continue to take hydrochlortiazide and potassium you should monitor closely blood potassium levels.

If the levels are low you should stop hydrochlortiazide and continue with potassium till the normalisation of blood levels.

If the levels are normal keep going with both drugs.

If the levels are high then stop taking potassium and continue with hydrochlortiazide.

Hope this was of help!

Brief Answer:
Stop Caduet continue with diuretics...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

If you were my patient, I would have recommended to stop Caduet but to continue diuretics in the morning in order to control BP. But any changes in your medicine should be done by your doctor. So, please consult your doctor regarding this.

Hope this will be of help!
