Brief Answer:
Diabetes should be ruled out

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

AFI more than 25 is considered to be polyhydramnios.
This can occur due to diabetes in mother, congenital anomalies in the fetus, infections like TORCH, placental anomalies or idiopathic.

So, if fetal and placental anomalies are ruled out by ultrasound, and there is no history of any fever or infection during pregnancy, then diabetes is one of the most important cause to rule out.

Polyhydramnios can cause preterm labor, however uncontrolled diabetes is there, then it can lead to fetal problems like macrosomia, sudden Intrauterine futility or intrauterine growth restriction.

So, oral glucose tolerance is advised and further treatment should be done accordingly.
Control of diabetes is a must during pregnancy.

Hope you found the answer helpful. Feel free to ask further.

Brief Answer:
Gestational diabetes should be ruled out

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

AFI of 29 will cause discomfort to her and can lead to preterm labor.
In my opinion , oral glucose tolerance test should be repeated with 75 gm glucose to rule out any gestational diabetes mellitus, which can develop anytime in pregnancy.
She can travel by air, however cautiously walking and avoiding any haste.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
