Posted on Tue, 14 Jul 2015
Question: 9 days ago I had sex with a girl I do not know. I used a condom during intercourse. I recently found out it is possible to catch certain stds like herpes even if you wear a condom. Im freaking out and wanted to know if I coukd upload a picture of my penis and have you tell me if it looks normal.

Brief Answer:
Your penis appears normal and get tested for STDs after 30 days

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. In the picture your penis looks normal and 9 days is early to have manifestation of any disease. Since you had a condom during sex therefore the changes of infection are less.

2. It will help to know whether your partner had any rash, sore or wound in the vagina and genital region. Having it increases the chance of STD infections like herpes.

3. You can get tested for herpes and other STDs at the end of 30 days for peace of mind. This is because by that time antibodies will be found in your blood if you contract any STD infection.

4. HIV is least likely transmitted during sex with condom and you might get a HIV rapid fourth generation test done after 30 days if this is also worrying you. Most likely your test report will be normal.

5. Should you have any symptoms like itching or rashes in the genital region or pain and burning during urination then you might have to consult a doctor and get treated for possible infection after confirming by early testing.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Dr.Vivek
