Is Endoscopy Advised While Having Low Hgb Levels?

default
Posted on Fri, 7 Oct 2016
Question: I have recurrent iron anemia deficiency. I have had two coloniscopy/ endoscopy to check for internal bleeding. Nothing was found. I have responded to blood transfusions, iron infusions and iron supplements.

My Hgb is low again. Is there a need for yet another scoping? Fecal occult test, at home was negative. I believe I need to simply start taking iron supplements again. I am weak, dizzy and have absolutely no energy.

Brief Answer:
No need

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
if you ask me there is no need for repeated endoscopy especially if there is no blood in stool and no weight loss. This may be anemia caused by B12 or iron deficiency so you should try with these supplements. Wish you good health. Regards
