Posted on Tue, 22 Mar 2016
Question: My doctor has recommended bunion surgery, but has also said he would need to cut the achilles tendon to loosen it, as it is too tight. Is this something that is normally done

Brief Answer:
No

Detailed Answer:
hi and welcome.
Maybe you misunderstood something. Achiles tendon has nothing to do with bunion and some other minor muscles and tendons around big toe are transacted during bunion repair surgery. only if you have some other foot disorder then procedure on Achilles tendon may be beneficial. Wish you good health. Regards
