Brief Answer:
Chickenpox in 3 months old babies is uncommon

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Dutta, Hi & Welcome.
Thanks for posting your query on health care magic.
1. Chickenpox in babies is uncommon, this is because of the fact that they are protected by maternal (mother's) antibodies if the baby's mother had chickenpox, or received the chickenpox vaccine.
2. Chickenpox is most contagious 1-2 days before the rash appears and until the rash is completely dry and scabbed over (about 5-6 days after onset of the rash).
Since it is a highly contagious disease, the virus spreads in the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It can also be spread by direct touching of the lesion (rash).
So, it is better keep your baby away from him till his lesions are scabbed over.
If your baby develops a widespread rash and a fever, consult a pediatrician for clinical examination and treatment.
Hope the suggestions given above would be useful.
Should you have any follow up query, you are welcome.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
Chicken pox is usually benign in children.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Dutta, Hi & Welcomeback
Thanks for your reply and the compliments.
Usually it will not cause any harm as it is a self limiting viral illness in babies.
However, it can cause complications such as bacterial infections of the skin & soft tissues, pneumonia (infection of the lungs), or encephalitis (infection or inflammation of the brrain) which can be harmful and sometimes fatal.
