Is Anger A Side Effect Of Abilify?
Question: Does Abilify cause people to be more angry?
I'm writing on behalf of my son who has been taking Abilify for several years. He is extremely angry. This wasn't part of his nature before Abilify. XXXXXXX had been taking Zyprexa for many years for schizophrenia. Because he didn't like the sexual side effects of Zyprexa, he was changed to Abilify. He worked steadily for 25 years until eighteen months ago. He's very angry and is unwilling to work now.

Specific answer for your question is yes. Abilify causes anger in some patients.
However it is very less common side effect and rather abilify is used for anger control.
In case of your son if he is taking abilify for several years and anger symptoms are from few months only, there is the least chance that abilify is responsible. If it is going to occur , it is within 3-4 months of starting the tablet.
If his diagnosis is Schizophrenia, anger can be one symptom of schizophrenia. So doctor needs to differentiate it that is it side effect or illness symptom. For that detail chronological history is required about his illness with medicines details.If by chance it is possibility of side effect, we can check by stopping/replacing the abilify.
The best judge in your son's case is his treating doctor as it is individual case which can not be generalized.
