Is An HIV Antibody Test Conclusive After 22 Days Of Exposure?

Question: hi...i had protected vaginal sex for only a minute and protected oral sex for few seconds with a csw (commercial sex worker) at dubai whose HIV status i dont know 22 days ago...i opted for HIV antibody test today whose reports came negative...my questions are...

1, Am i safe from any HIV or STD?

2,do i need any further hiv or std testing in future ?

3. can i have unprotected sex with my wife?

i dont have any ARS sypmtoms till now...kindly re

Thanks for the query

Since vaginal and oral sex was protected you do not stand a chance to acquire a sexually transmitted disease.

I must add here that there is something called a window period for Hiv where the ELISA test will come negative so I recommend that you reconfirm it after three months. So to have unprotected sex with your wife ideally you would have to wait 3 months

dear doc.... has anyone accquired hiv with a condom on ( condom doesnt break)...in medical history?..i dont have any cut or lesions on my penis...i know that std can be accquired from skin to skin conatct....so what is my probability of getting STD from single episode of protected sex which lasted hardly 5 minutes from a commercial sex worker

You cannot acquire HIV with an unbroken condom. There should be exchange of blood or bodily fluids to acquire HIV.

The chances of acquring STD with less than 5 minutes of exposure should be less than 5% however it again depends on several factors like
1. Viral load of the person with STD
2. Breaks in the skin
3. Duration of exposure
4. Your immune response

dear doc....i dont have any active open lesions on my skin at the time i had intercourse for a short span.....is there still any chance for getting any STD from an unbroken skin?.....and dear doc....if condoms covers both urethra and penis foreskin....from which HIV IS transmiited ( i mean to say that can foreskin come out of condom from the base of penis which is not covered by condom during sex)
