Brief Answer:
You can consume limited quantity of beer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

I have read your query and understand your concern.

Recovery from angioplasty (stenting procedure of heart arteries) is typically brief and most of the patients may return to their routine work and resume activity in 2 to 3 weeks.

This includes mild to moderate physical activity and consumption of alcohol also.

Latest research shows that moderate drinking may help patients recover from coronary stenting to open blocked arteries.

The consumption of alcohol may promote healing by inhibiting inflammation and by reducing clotting and by reducing bad cholesterol and increasing good cholesterol.

However, drinking should be limited to 1-2 units of alcohol or 1 to 2 beer in a day.

It is already 2 months since stenting in your case and hence there is no harm in having alcohol in limited quantity.

But you must talk to your doctor and ask him because alcohol can affect certain medications.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and regards,

Dr.Sandip Kabra
