Brief Answer:
Alcohol disturbs usual sleep cycle

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your healthcare questions

YOu have been experiencing insomnia and to combat this you have been drink a glass a wine each night. THis may help initially but with repeat use of alcohol your regular sleep cycle becomes fragmented. Alcohol gets you to sleep but does not allow for regular deep sleep or restorative sleep. You are unconscious but not really sleeping. For better sleep there are medications including simple benadryl OTC to help sleep. You doctor can also prescribe medications that are non addicting that allows for better and restorative sleep.

I recommend stopping alcohol and try benadryl. If this does not help see your medical provider for remeron since you have already tried the other medications

Brief Answer:
Sporadic fatal insomnia is very rare

Detailed Answer:
Sporadic fatal insomnia is extremely rare and there is no known cure. There are only 40 families in the world with it and only about 100 people with the gene mutation. If you truly have sporadic fatal insomnia then I recommend you see a sleep specialist immediately. Drinking alcohol will not change the course of the disease.

So basically you have never studied this disease because ffi is gene r mutatation but sporadic fatal insomnia is not. It has affected very few people but I was just asking if you had the disease would benzos or alcohol help aid you to sleep or would you have comlete intolerance to these aids. I do think I sneed a doctor who is a little more informed. Bc I am consumed by this. Can't leave the house nor exercise. Please give a thorough response, I paid for it and feel ion loosing my mind!

Ok so pretty much sums up you have no clue about this disease. Sfi is not hereditery. Ffi is. As a doctor I asked you to answer if I have sporadic fayatal insomnia and your response : not sure. I need to know if this disease settles at all. Do sedatives work if you have this disease

Brief Answer:
Sporadic fatal insomnia is so rare nobody knows

Detailed Answer:
I would like to know who told you, you had sporadic fatal insomnia?

I would recommend that you see a sleep specialist for your condition. Since this is an extremely rare and fatal condition you need to be 100 percent sure about the diagnosis.

Sporadic fatal insomnia is fatal and there is absolutely no treatment.

You can try anything you want to help you sleep. The products themselves will not cause you to die. It is the overall lack of sleep that causes death.

I am sorry that I can't satisfy your question but this disease is so rare and exotic you would be hard pressed to find any experts in the WORLD about this disease.
