Brief Answer:
Suggestions on baby's weight

Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Her weight for age is within normal limits according to the WHO charts. I take this opportunity to tell you certain scientific facts and relieve your distress -

1. An active is a well kid even if she is not eating well.

2. Development of a kid is as important as or I would say even more important than growth alone.

3. As the kids grow their interest in food decreases and interest in play activities increases so that they eat small quantity and run away to play. As parents we need to be more patient and feed than less quantity but more aliquots per day.

4. This age rather than the quantity of the food I suggest you concentrate more on the number of times you feed her solid food and also make whatever you feed her calorie dense by adding good amount of ghee to it. By one year of age her meal should resemble adult food.

5. I suggest you not to use appetite stimulants on long run as they may cause drowsiness.

Kindly get back with answers to below questions -
1. What was her birth weight and length?
2. How is her attaining of developmental milestones?
3. Is the stool oily and floats in the pan?
4. Is there any colour change in the hair or skin?
5. Is there any history of recurrent serious infections?

Brief Answer:
She's slightly underweight - but not to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi....according to standard growth charts, she's slightly underweight but her height is between 50-75th centiles.... So no need to worry.

Moreover her development is perfectly fine.

So - AN ACTIVE KID WHO IS DEVELOPMENTALLY NORMAL. THOUGH SLIGHTLY UNDERWEIGHT IS A WELL KID.

Brief Answer:
Excessive drooling is common in this age

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX ..

1. Excessive is drooling is common in this age as the kid tends to start to speak at this age.

2. But if the drooling is very severe, she might be having a sore throat and if so I suggest you see our local pediatrician.

3. There is a Product called Laktrum - Bovine Colostrum and this is specifically indicated for failing to thrive or poor weight gain children. This is a prescription drug and I suggest you get a prescription for this from your pediatrician. The dose is 1-2grams per day for 3months.

4. you can continue whatever multivitamins and calcium and vitamin D supplements you are giving currently.

Incidentally I remember answering your queries 3 times in the past regarding vaccination and Quinvaxem.

I wish your kid a speedy recovery. If you need any future medical consultation and suggestions, I will be glad to help. In this way even in healthcaremagic you can always be guided by a same pediatrician if you are comfortable with me.
