Does this infection go away in a couple of years or does it keep recurring?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Kakkar (5 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Visible warts should be removed with electrocautery

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Most of the patients with warts eventually get rid of the HPV virus/ infection after 1-2 years. Patients own immunity takes care of the virus.
However, some may have persistent infection and keep developing new lesions, specially patients with decreased immunity.
Any visible warts should ideally be treated e.g either with electrosurgery Or Cryotherapy.

How soon after contracting this virus am i infectious? Is there a incubation period for this virus before it becomes transmittable to others?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Kakkar (4 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Incubation period is variable

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Warts are just a visible manifestation of HPV infection. Incubation period is variable i.e from days to weeks. It is not necessary that a person becomes infectious only after visible warts develop. Even someone who has no visible warts can still carry this virus and transmit to others through direct skin to skin contact (of sexual nature).

What are the odds that this is not hpv?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Kakkar (10 hours later)
Brief Answer:
I suggest you to visit a nearby dermatologit for a confirmatory diagnosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

The diagnosis is straightforward in genital Hpv infection/ warts and is obvious by clinical examination. The next logical step is to cauterize it with an electrocautery procedure. In case of any doubt a biopsy/ histopathology would be conclusive.
