Is A Reddish Brown Mole With Tiny Dots A Cause For Concern?

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Mar 2016
Question: Could you please take a look at this mole. I had it for ages and it hasn't changed, but it always bothers me has it's more of a reddish color than brown (I have a couple of them). I have a dermatologist for skin checks and she says it is fine. I was just wondering for the tiny dots are in the mole? I think she may have said hair follicles or pores or something. I was just concerned if it was a mole with two colors as in the ABCDE signs. Sorry I get a bit paranoid about my skin. See photos with and without flash.

Brief Answer:
Better pictures showing area of concern needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello My Dear,

Thanks for contacting us with your query!
I am Dr V XXXXXXX a XXXXXXX Consultant Dermatologist and Venereologist.
Please do not think yourself to be paranoid. You are only concerned because you are observant and health conscious. It is a good thing .

I have studied the details and would be glad to help you in finding a solution to the concerns.

For someone attending with me personally, I would have taken a thorough history and conducted examination of lesions as well as general health and. In this case, I would like to have more pictures as per the given suggestions:

Kindly take pictures of the concerned area either by focusing on small area or covering the surroundings. Pics ideally should be taken from a distance of 6 inches, one feet and two feet in good day light or shadow less light.

I thought it would not be inconvenient to focus the attention on the specific area and give you the best possible help and support.

Please send the details, if any along with pictures, and I will take up the submission on priority.

Our best wishes, always!

Brief Answer:
Lesions are within acceptable range of normality

Detailed Answer:
Dear

Thanks for conveying.

No problem if more pics are not possible.
On the basis of detailed magnified view, especially of pic 4, i find them to be within the range of normality and would suggest only to remain observant but defer intervention at this time.

Some pigmentation around hairs is present, as also multicolor appearance, and is not medically a cause of concern.

Now you can stay relaxed.

Let me know if I can do anything else for you!

Best wishes from our team.
