Question: I had total shoulder replacement a week ago. Ivenoticed over the last two days a lump at the inside f my elbow. No color, but extremely sore. I'm out of town and won't be returning for five more days. I have an appt. with my orthopedist the following day after my return. Is this lump something I should be concerned about?

Brief Answer:
No concern

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am hear that you are concerned about a lump that has formed in the inside of your elbow since replacement of your shoulder. This is more than likely related to the shoulder surgery. It is probably phlebitis which is irritation to the veins of your arm from the positioning of your shoulder during surgery. This is completely benign and will resolve in about 2 weeks. You can help reduce the pain by using a heating pad and taking an NSAID like ibuprofen or naprosyn.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
