Brief Answer:
Infection of the follicle gland of the area

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I suspect the follicle gland, from where the hair root in the nostril, is infected causing the knot.
Does it pain? Is it tender when touched? Can you click a picture if it is visible from outside?
If yes, then there is inflammation because of infection. Constant nose picking and drilling with fingers cause this inflammation because of repeated injury.
You can apply over the counter antibiotic cream inside the nostril to counter the growing infection. You can apply Bacitracin kind of ointment three times a day for a week.

Hope this answers your question.
