Question: Will zovirax help if I have and had shingles for 6 1/2 years?

Hi and welcome to HCM.
Zovirax is antiviral medications which will help against herpes virus outbreaks and it may reduce outbreak frequency and pain. However,in chronic herpes infections it won't cure the disease and it may not be as effective as gabapentin which acts on some other mechanisms. in every case, you can try with zovirax and see the effect,you can always go back on gabapentin.
