Question: Dear sir/ madam
TSH of my wife came as 16.50 in test . SO doctor suggested to take thyronum 100 mg , one tablet daily.
medical representative said no such tablet as thyronum 100 mg . He gave me THYRONORM 100 mcg tablet. My questions are as follows

Brief Answer:
seems some communication gap.

Detailed Answer:
dear XXXXXXX hi! incidentally there seems to be a communication gap. thyronorm is the correct spelling , may be writing of the doctor was misread as thyronum.
and again the strength of thyroxine (generic name) is in mcg not in mg so if we are prescribing 100 mcg it is 0.1mg.

now coming to your second query, whether the dose for your wife is correct. sir to decide the dose, i need her weight, and also make sure that madam is not pregnant.

regards!

Brief Answer:
75 mcg to start would be sufficient.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir, thanks! for her 75 mcg would be a sufficient dose to begin with. Kindly make sure that the tablet is taken empty stomach, early morning, and another 30 minutes are allowed before madam consumes any food, tea or coffee.
review after 6 weeks and do let me know.
