Is STD Transmission Possible Through Unprotected Oral Sex?

Question: I'm afraid I might have picked up an STD. I have a small lump that came up on my scrotum. It has a yellow flowery top . About the size of a top of a pen. It is mildly sore to touch. It feels to be the size of a pea. I have had some unprotected oral sex in the last month.

Brief Answer:
STD from oral sex

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are worried that you may have contracted an STD from unprotected oral sex. The only contractable disease from oral sex would be herpes or gonorrhea. So since your lesion is on the scrotum I would venture to guess that you may have contracted herpes from your encounter. I would recommend here is that you may want to be treated right away with an antiviral medication which will help prevent recurrent infections in the future. It would not be gonorrhea as it cause a penile discharge not a lesion on the scrotum

But that being said it is possible that it is not an STD but just an infection or cellulitis of the scrotum possibly even an ingrown hair. This can be treated with antibiotics and cured.
