Posted on Fri, 20 Jan 2023
Question: I have osteoporosis and am scheduled for an injection of Protea (sp?) tomorrow in the Oncology Department at MUSC. The description says it is administered in an Infusion Chair with HEC. My doctor described my treatment as an injectionI would need to have every six months. My question is does this description of treatment sound correct?

Brief Answer:
The description of treatment is correct.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I think that you misspelled the medication which name is Prolia.
Prolia is a medication indicated to treat postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Prolia reduces the possibility of the fractures.
It is administered as a single subcutaneous injection once every 6 months. Usually the injection of Prolia is in the upper arm.

The description of the treatment is correct.
The injection should be done in an Infusion chair.
Infusion chair are specific chairs with back rest and leg rest.
They make the administration of the medicament more comfortable.

Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you need further clarification.
