Is HIV Test Done Post 19 Days Of Exposure Conclusive?
Question: Hello Doctor,
I had sex with a call girl 19 days back.I used latex condom and she applied massage cream on her vagina,i told her to wipe it and she wiped it but i am not sure whether she wiped it completely or not.I got discharged after 10-15 strokes and took out the penis.I observed that the lower part of the condom was filled with semen and not leaking. When i removed the condom few drops of semen fell on the bed though upper part of the condom.Am i at risk of HIV???I heard that oil base lubricants make tiny holes in the condom even if it has not broken.I got tested for HIV after 19 days by HIV P24 Antigen ELFA (result Negative) and HIV 1+2-ELISA(result Negative) .Plz help me

Brief Answer:
Extremely unlikely for you to be infected.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Greetings from Dr. Divakara. P
Thanks for posting your query.
As per the description there was no breakage or damage to the condom. So it is extremely unlikely for you to get infected.
The tests what you have done may not pick up HIV so early , it needs at least 6 weeks to become positive, but I don't think there any need for testing again as you have maintained proper protection during sex.
So relax.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
Is it IgG or IgM Antibody.
Detailed Answer:
HI
Herpes Simplex Virus 1 can be tranmitted sexually . Now the Elisa test which you have done have detected IgG antibody or IgM Antibody. Knowing this is important because IgM Antibody indicates recent infection which you could have had during your recent exposure . This in turn indicates that the risk of HIV infection is also high ( if the girl is also infected ) because inspite of using Condom if you can get Herpes then there is also a chance of HIV too ( if the girl is also infected ).
But if the antibody is IgG , it indicates past infection which might have gone undected and this in turn indicates that the risk of HIV due to your recent exposure is almost nil.
SO kindly let me know which antibody for Herpes simplex is tested for you , IgG or IgM .
Regards.

Brief Answer:
Better to get the test done again.
Detailed Answer:
HI
See the window period ( the time during which the test may falsely show negative ) for HIV DNA PCR is 2-3 weeks ( i.e 14-21 days ) . So 19 days can be taken as out of window period .
But still to be 100% sure I would recommend a repeat test now .
Regards.
