Question: Hi doctor, i had a unprotected sex with sex worker about 5 months ago..i have taken hiv antigen/antibody test after 4 months of exposure..it came negative..i heard that window period of hiv is 3months..but in some cases it may take longer than 6 months to 1 year..could i retest again for hiv or no need to take retest..late sero conservtion possible?doctor..please help me doctor

In my practice as well as on this online forum I frequently come across such query form the men about concern of HIV testing.

You read it right that average incubation period is 3 months for HIV but in few cases it may extend up to 6 months.
You have already undergone testing after 4 months and there is no symptom of HIV. Clinically you need not to go fro test again.

Theoretically you can go for ELISA testing after 6 months of exposure for the best assurance.

In conclusion from my side no testing is required.
