Question: I have only one kidney and am considering getting a hida scan for gall blader function. Am a bit woried about kidney damage.

Dear patient,

Thanks for the appropriate query. No worries about the HIDA scan. It uses a radioactive acid that is taken up by the liver and excreted into the biliary system, does not affect kidney function at all, unlike contrast XXXXXXX which as you know, can damage the kidney.
