Is Gemcal Safe To Be Taken At 7 Months Of Pregnancy?

Question: Hi doctor. My wife is 7 months pregnant. everything is normal. our consulting doctor has suggested fefol-z for iron and for calcium we were using supercal-300 but now she has referred gemcal D-3. kindly suggest whether gemcal is safe at this point of time or not.

Hello,

However, please note that both Gemcal, as well as Supercal, are primarily containing Calcium and Vitamin D3 supplementation, the constituent and prescribing dosage varies from time to time. So even if Supercal was used before, she can be given Gemcal D3 based on her present requirement.

These are all necessary supplementation during this period of pregnancy hence no question about their safety.

Please follow her treating consultant's advice and continue medications as already advised. Do follow-up with the consultant from time to time to keep an eye on her progress thereafter.
