Is Clotrimazole Prescribed To Treat Herpes?

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Jul 2015
Question: Hello doctor I visited the doctor , as you mentioned the doctor did not feel the symptoms or red spots as herpes , she suspects it as some fungal candida? She gave me Clotrimazol yeast infection cream and the red spots are going away. But she asked me to take blood test for other stds just for confirming ! Doctor if the red spots are going using the cream means that this is not herpes right?? I'm worried about the test results now

History about the red spots before visiting doctor

Thanks a lot doctor ! Does the skin at the red spot peel off when this red spots are going away??

Hello doctor how many days it takes for clotrimazole to clear the spots , my spots are almost cleared , I also feel some inflammation or very light bump . Is this normal ? Or is this because I am applying a thick layer of this cream?

Brief Answer:
Usually 3-4 days, a slight reaction to the cream is possible.

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,

Usually, Clotrimazole treats yeast within 3-4 days. What you are describing as inflammation could be a mild reaction to the cream. All this should go away within a few days after stopping treatment (recommended fro 3-5 days usually).

Best regards.

Hello doctor I have a question , does this cream heal the red spots by darkening the spots ? Some spots are gone some are getting dark. Is this normal?

Another info to add is doctor had asked me to apply every night but I apply night and day does that cause inflammation?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Ralf Von Seckendorff (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Normally twice a day clotrim cream no problem

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,

clotrim cream can usually be applied twice a day with no problem. if you feel like there is still some inflammation, it can be a mild reaction to something in the cream or it is something else then candida/ yeast. If it doesn't get better please see your local doc again.

Best regards

Doctor sorry for late reply I have added the current photos and looking at the photos I think many spots have gone , I think earlier you had reviewed the photos when I had red spots! Please review the latest and let me know your opinion of it looks good and I hope still herpes can be ruled out. Thanks a lot doctor for your answers

Brief Answer:
Looking better, good sign

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient, herpes can only be ruled out 100% by testing, but it looks better and that under clotrimazole makes a yeast infection more likely at this point.

Best regards again
