Brief Answer:
Yes, you should be on it.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Cardace meto is relatively safe for long term if not significant side effects till now. It can cause increased potassium levels especially in those with deranged kidney function. So it's not expected in you. Anyway, you should once get potassium levels done after two weeks to see potassium levels, although not not absolutely necessary.

It may take total of 2 weeks to achieve full effect. Gradually, dose may be increased if needed. This rise may be due to internal changes like hormonal, salt level, or may be increase in BP with increasing age. Nothing to worry about this increase.

If you are feeling excessive fatigue in daytime then you may have it at bedtime or vice versa. You may have it at either time.
You should have a healthy lifestyle like avoiding fatty, oily and high calorie diet. Have low salt diet and monitor blood pressure regularly thrice a day for one week then once or twice a week.

If bp is persistently more than 140/90 mmhg, then we have to hike up the dose or if few readings are above this then this can be neglected. Regular exercises like brisk walking, jogging according your capacity atleast 30 min a day and 5 days a week. Lots of green leafy vegetables, fruits, fish once or twice a week, avoid meat. Avoid smoking and alcohol if any.

Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.

actually i have contacted you last year for one more suggestion,

After taking metoprolol i was experiencing low libido and ED issues.

last year my urologist suggested to take tadalaflo 5mg daily and caverta 50 mg on sos

i had a good love life. in between i skipped tadaflo for some period.

last week i met him for review, he suggested to stop tadaflo 5mg daily and take caverta 100 mg on sos

but after using cardace meto i feel very low libido and experience ED

can in continue the daily dose of tadaflo along with caverta 50 mg.

also is it advisable to take caverta 100mg along with tadaflo 5mg daily dose

what is the alternate BP mediceine to avoid ED

Brief Answer:
Should shift to cardace 5 mg only

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Okay..Yes Metoprolol component may cause decreased libido. So then it's better to shift to plain cardace 5 mg once a day in the morning. Should get potassium levels done after 5 days of increasing the dose. There are also alternative. options available like Amlodipine etc. Here, better to continue cardace as you were already taking it. Monitor bp for a week after medicines change.

Next, if you want to continue with tadaflo 5 mg then you may continue with caverta 50 mg SOS. Don't use 100 mg with tadaflo as there is a risk of hypotension. So Metoprolol is not absolutely necessary for you as tmt is negative so withdrawing it will help.

Brief Answer:
May continue on long term basis

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

You may use tadaflo on long term basis. Using combined tadaflo and caverta would be more effective, but only caverta 100 is also fine and may try it for response.

Cardace and coversyl belongs to same class of medications and you may use either of those. Both are similar. There are no specific tests required for ED as you have already ruled out possibility of heart disease by getting TMT done.
