Is Budecort Solution Safe For An Infant?

Question: Hi Docs, I have given levolin nebulizer solution 0.63mg with budecort solution to my five month old baby by mistake. Doctor prescribed levolin 0.31mg. I am extremely worried. Can you please advise. Thanks in advance

Welcome to HCM

I can understand your concern.
Levolin contains levosalbutamol.The inhalational dose is 0.1-0.2 mg/kg/dose.The toxic dose is 1 mg/kg.
The average weight of 5 month old baby is around 5-6 kg.
0.63 mg is not the toxic dose for this age and in most of the cases this dose does not causes any problem.
The symptoms of toxicity are irritability,increased heart rate,tremor/abnormal movement in this age.
Levosalbutamol is short acting beta 2 agonist and it relieves the spasm of airways.It gets cleared from the body in 4-6 hours.
So I suggest you to observe for the symptoms of toxicity if any.If you find any abnormality consult your pediatrician.
