Posted on Sat, 28 Mar 2015
Question: Hi,
I had a bridge for my lower front teeth which was fixed on two teeth either side. one day after the bridge was fixed i had pain in one of the teeth on which the bridge was fixed. my doctor told me that the tooth is infected and needs a root canal but he can't do anything as the bridge can't be removed so he said we willreat the root canal with medicines. so he prescribed Augmentin-625, Vizylac and Mytiflam. what I want to know is can root canal be treated with medicine, as i still have pain in that tooth. please advise

Brief Answer:
Tooth infection , Root canal treatment .

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXX,

Thanks for consulting Healthcaremagic .
This is Dr. Priyanka Tiwari answering your query .

Read your query as you have pain in capped tooth it is because of tooth infection . As medicine you are taking prescribed by your doctor is fine but it is effective if there is mild tooth infection . If your intra oral periapical radiograph shows Abscess (pus) formation at apex of root then you have to go for root canal treatment .

If you have reports (radiograph) with you then you can attach (upload ) in report section that will be more helpful for me to suggest you treatment .

Based on detail provided I will suggest you if you have continous pain after taking medicines then consult Oral surgeon (Endodontist ) and get the tooth treated with Root canal treatment that will give you releif in pain .
If you have severe pain you can take analgesic like Ketrol Dt or Paintol by consulting with local doctor .

Awating for reports (radiograph) to comment further.

Hope this will help you .
