Brief Answer:
Increase solids

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Usually the birth weight of a child should quadruple by 24 months of age. In your child's case, the nutrition needs to be enhanced. After 6 months of age, breast milk can no longer meet the nutritional demands of the child and so semi solids need to be introduced. The amount and frequency of semisolids needs to be increased gradually although breast milk may be continued alongside. In your child's case, you essentially need to enhance the amount of semisolids or solids. Boil rice along with pulses and vegetables and give it in semi-pounded form (half mashed). Gradually increase the frequency. Give bananas and other fruits. Introduce one new food item each week and stick to it for at least that week, gradually increasing the quantity. I am sure that catch up growth will occur soon.

Once you increase the other foods, the demand of the child will come down and with the decrease in demand the production of breast milk will also come down. Be sure to increase the amount and frequency of supplemental feeds.

Regards
