I Was Hit On The Left Side Of My Head

Posted on Sat, 28 Sep 2019
Question: I was hit on the left side of my head above my left eye a month ago. I have a huge lump that previously did not bother me. It is now turning black and blue and my eye socket is starting to hurt a bit. I thought the lump was receding over the past week or so but not sure. Should I wait and see or go to urgent care

Brief Answer:
hematoma with secondary changes, need consulting physician care.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* The large lump with black and blue color changes indicate hematoma with
secondary changes.

* As the area is near eye socket and started hurting, it is best recommended

- ice pack application 5 minutes each 3 times a day
- prescription of antibiotics ( as penicillin or else ), anti inflammatory
medications ( as serratiopeptidase and others ) which will help to resolve
the lump better, faster and prevent infection chances.
- Some of the cases not responding to medications, do need a surgical
intervention of incision and drainage as well.

So it is best recommended to consult your physician for best possible management and prevent any unacceptable outcomes.

Wish you best recovery.

Thanks.
Take care.
