Question: I use the neilmed sinus rinse device to clear out my nasal and sinus cavities ,but every time I use it ,i am left with what feels like painful head and eye pressure
All so my eyes become bloodshot red and stingy

1. This is a common issue in some patients with chronic nasal congestion.
2. Assuming that the right concentration of saline and the correct temperature of rinse solution is being used, it may be due to allergy to any of the contents of the nasal rinse.
3. Usually, I use medications, nasal sprays, and steam inhalation to decongest the nose and then start nasal rinses for patients to overcome this issue.
4. The nasal and sinus anatomy is unique in different patients like a fingerprint. Hence depending upon the patient's response, the nasal rinses are discontinued if causing discomfort. As mentioned above, initial medication is done, and then the rinses are introduced. Sometimes a higher concentration of saline (2% instead of the usual 0.9%) helps decongest the narrow nasal and sinus openings.
5. Some patients are not comfortable at all or have side effects. The nasal rinses are discontinued and the patient is evaluated again which may include imaging.

In addition to the possible causes mentioned in the previous answer, the possibility of minute quantities of the saline nasal rinse solution being forced up the tear (lacrimal) ducts into the eyes. (Tears drain into the yes through these normal channels).
