Question: I took 3 anti biotics then I waited 4 days and I went to doctor and he prescribed new anti biotic and I took 7 of them. Will 10 anti biotics make me anti biotic resistant? He didn't even check my blood to see If it was virus or bacterial. He only checked xray.

Brief Answer:
no this would not cause resistance

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

No, the use of 10 antibiotics does not cause resistance.

Resistance tends to occur over a long period of taking numerous different courses of antibiotics

This means that someone who uses antibiotics repeatedly (eg for every cough or cold or flu) or uses them often and not properly eg a person who has used a lot of different antibiotic courses and doesn't finish taking the complete course of medication (stop using them before supposed to)- these persons can get resistance

If you have taken a lot of antibiotics over the years eg 2 to 3 courses every year for a lot of years, then you are at risk of resistance but taken 10 antibiotics would not cause resistance

Most antibiotics require 7 days, though some can be taken for 3 to 5 days. Over those days, most persons take 3 to 14 tablets (depending on the dose).
If antibiotic resistance was cause by the use of 10 tablets then a large number of persons would be resistant

i hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Can xray alone determine if its viral or bacterial infection. Also what if someone takes 12 antibiotic and it was virus all along? Will this be harmfull?

Brief Answer:
takes multiples doses over a long period of time

Detailed Answer:
HI

Not alone but in combination with the severity of the symptoms, bacterial infections tend to be more severe.

No, this would not be harmful.

Persons are given antibiotics for the cold all of the time (though they shouldn't be) and they do not become resistant with the first , second or even third time this occurs.
It takes multiple doses of antibiotics for resistance to occur

Brief Answer:
if it does not resolve with topical treatment

Detailed Answer:
HI

If the issues with the uvula does not respond to topical treatment such as gargling or throat sprays, then you may need a course of antibiotics

Chloroseptic spray/gargle and covonia throat spray have both anti septic and pain relief medication

Gargling with salt water can also be helpful as well
