I Stay In Bengaluru. One Of My Nostril Is Always

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Jun 2022
Question: I stay in Bengaluru. One of my nostril is always blocked and whichever is blocked, water will constantly come out of the nose. If i sleep on the side, the opposite side of the nostril will get opened. When i switch sides, i can feel something inside behind the nose moving from left to right or vice versa and that side of the nose is blocked, its choked. I see water coming out all the time from the blocked nostril.

I took alopathy medicines which helps me for a month during the course but again its same.
I consulted ENT, allergy specialist got the allergy report, CT Scan of my nose but nothing major found. Some docs suggest i have acute sinusitis but i do not get head pain due to my runny nose or nostril being blocked. If i run or eat, which generates heat in my body, my nostrils get opened but that's temporary.
I came to know that i am allergic to the environment here. When i go to my hometown, the nose behaves quite well. Please suggest as i am facing this from 5 years plus.

Brief Answer:
You need to take nasal spray and anti allergic tablets.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of allergic rhinitis is more likely.
It is allergy of nose.
In my opinion, you will need nasal spray (duonase) two puffs in each nostril twice daily and montelukast fexofenadine combination once a day at night before going to sleep.
Take steam inhalation 4-5 times a day.
Take all these for 1 month.
Let me know your progress after 1 month.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks

Just to let you know, I am a patient of avascular necrosis so I need to avoid steroid and all my medicines strictly.

I took the course of nasal spray and the medicines for a month earlier but after a month the condition will be the same. So do you suggest to do the same thing again

You are having allergic rhinitis.
This is chronic life long condition.
You need to take regular nasal spray and tablet.
No need to worry for systemic side effects of steroids as inhaled steroids are devoid of systemic side effects.

Thanks for the advice.

But i do not want to continue taking these medicines as there are numerous side effects, i think AVN is one of it. I took the medicines for a long time due to which i think i caught necrosis.

Is there any alternative way to cure it, i mean any sequence to be observed or any other way which does not impact my body health further.

I want to understand the root cause of it as to what is happening as i do not suffer with this in a different atmosphere. I know one of the nostril is always blocked and at a time a human breathes with one nostril. But in my case the nostril which is blocked is constantly running out of water.
