Posted on Mon, 18 May 2020
Question: I sometimes have this uncomfortable feeling in my neck that makes me want to put my hands, a jacket, or a blanket(when I sleep) around it for pressure. I don't know if there is anything that could be wrong with my body in particular but this has been going on for a while and I don't like it.

Brief Answer:
Possibly related to neck muscle spasm.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and I would try my best to help you.

I have noted your clinical details. Based on this, your symptoms are most likely due to neck muscle spasm. This muscle spasm often occurs due to prolonged sitting, as while watching TV screen/computer or a smartphone for long hours. It can be improved with isometric neck exercises.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
