I'm really just curious if hamsters can get rabies, what the symptoms would look like in the hamster, and whether or not I should be worried about having rabies

the scratch didn't break the skin, but i'm worried that any leftover saliva may have in someway been transferred into my mouth (the scratch was around my fingers)

Brief Answer:
Hamsters do not transmit rabies, you may be having a viral infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask a Doctor service,

I carefully read your query and understand your concern.

Hamsters almost never have been found to transmit rabies infection. So, I would sau, there is no reason to worry about it.

Very likely the scartchy throat and runny nose are due to a self-limiting condition such as a viral infection or common cold.

I would recommend you to take ibuprofen, drink plenty of fluids and rest as needed.
You should feel better in a few days.

If you notice no improvement in 3-4 days or you are any worse you will need to see your doctor.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
