I Once Washed My Clothes In The Sink Of My

default
Posted on Wed, 20 May 2020
Question: I once washed my clothes in the sink of my bedroom's washroom. The clothes may be contaminated with tiny bit body fluid since I saw some brown stain on it after I returning from outside. I just briefly rinse the sink after washing and keep on using it for normal purpose: washing face, brushing teeth. I also washed my sleepwear in it a few hours later too. My baby girl (10-month) also washed her hands and feet in this sink too. There is no stain left in the sink after I washing my clothes at the first hand. Is there any risk to contract blood born disease like HIV or hepatitis?

Brief Answer:
NO!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I have reviewed your information fully and there is absolutely no risk of contracting any blood borne diseases from the above narrated scenario. For an of these infections to be transmitted, you need the contaminated blood getting into the blood system. You had no openings and no germ would have survived under the reported circumstances.

I hope this helps, guides and addresses your concerns. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.

Hi Dr. Chobufo, thanks for your reply. I have a few follow up:
1. Will the virus live on the surface of the sink and then contaminate on sleepwear and further pass to my baby while she lick my clothes?
2. What if baby touch the sink and put hands into mouth?
3. I dont have active bleeding cuts but have some minor one from finger pick and dry hand. Does it matter?
4. What if the water split into my eyes while I am washing face in the sink. (I do not get water from sink, what I mean is that the water hit the sink and then split back into my eyes)
5. or do you mean after I washing my clothes with stain, there would no virus live on the surface of the sink?
6. If there is some water split on the water around the sink while I washed that stained clothes, and I mop roughly after washing the stained clothes, should those surface considered contaminated and has potential to cause some infection if I have cuts to touch it?

Thanks for your patience

Brief Answer:
None of the above would cause an infection!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed all above scenarios. It is impossible for any virus to survive those conditions and cause a blood borne infection. Be relaxed and know there is nothing to be worried about per these infections.

I wish you well.
