Brief Answer:
There are two types of thyriodectomy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thyroidectomy is of two types: partial and total. Partial is always better than total thyroidectomy as some part of the thyroid gland is preserved. In total thyroidectomy, removal of all parathyroid glands is also to be avoided. Parathyroid glands should be preserved. Important blood vessels are present nearby, so the surgeon has to be very meticulate and not injure them.

I will suggest that you consult a surgeon and know all relevant details about it before going for surgery.

Dr Vaishalee
