Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome back to Ask a Doctor service!

I understand your concern and would explain that gas can lead to palpitations lasting even for longer periods of time.

The fact that you have increased burping during theee episodes is another argument in favour of increased gas.

Coming to this point, I would recommend taking simethicone and a PPI (omeprazole, pantoprazole, etc.) in order to help improve your situation.

It is also necessary trying to avoid spicy food and coffee and eating more frequently and in small portions, avoiding large meals, which can trigger this situation.

Anxiety can cause such clinical situation too.

Anyway there is no need to go to the ER, as long as you don't have any symptoms like shortness of breath and lightheadedness.

When the Covid situation will be over, I would recommend performing an ambulatory 24- 48 hours ECG monitoring in order to examine your heart rhythm trends for a prolonged period of time and exclude possible cardiac arrhythmia.

From the other hand, if your situation doesn't improve with the above recommendation, I would advise taking low dose of betablockers (metoprolol, atenolol) which can help reduce palpitations and also anxiety.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!
