Suggest Treatment For Persistent Lower Back Pain

default
Posted on Fri, 19 Feb 2016
Question: I have pain in the lower back of my neck/upper back, on the left side. It started gradually, and I have had it for approximately three days now. It feels like a muscle strain, but my muscles are fine. I worked out tonight with no difficulty at all, and it actually felt better during working out, especially when working that area. The pain is waking me up at night, and is a constant irritation during the day. Any ideas of what may be going on will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Cervical spondylosis or cervical rib

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

Do you have any difficulty in doing overhead activities?

Any tingling or numbness of the arms or hands?

It is possible that you have cervical spondylosis or extra cervical rib which may be causing muscle spasm.

It is advisable to apply hot packs to the painful regions.

Avoid bending the neck forward or lifting weights. If Tylenol does not help, you can try a pain killer and muscle relaxant combination. Take Tablet Diclofenac and Thicolchicoside combination twice a day for 5 days after meals.

It would be helpful to get an Xray of the cervical spine to look for spondylosis or extra cervical rib.

Kindly answer my queries for me to be in a better position to help you.

I hope I have answered your query.
