Brief Answer:
The symptoms seem to be related to GERD

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The symptoms seem to be related to GERD.
In GERD, stomach acid gets into the throat causing excessive salivation.
I recommend to use medication to lower the stomach acidity such as Prilosec 20 mg once a day.
It is an over the counter medication.
I also suggest using antacids such as Maalox three times a day.
I recommend to avoid spicy food or too much caffeine, which can trigger the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards!

Thank you for your detailed and considerate answer.

Just one more question - does cancer ever cause excess salivation? And if it does, how likely would it be that I was suffering from this cancer?

Thank you
