Question: I have bilateral knee discomfort when I rise and stand still for periods ( 5 min). I think it is some form of arthritis. I have just noticed this problem about two months ago. If it is more aggravating I take 2 aspirin with some relief. What do you think.

Well it seems to be a start of degenerative arthritis.. that is osteoarthritis.I would like to ask you a few more queries to confirm it s that disease only

1. Do you face difficulty in climbing stairs or walking down stairs

2. any problem in the mornings when u wake up..do.you feel stiffness

3. any previous history of injury to the knee?

4. anyone in family has knee issues?

5. any other joints involved

Meanwhile.you can also get a x ray of knees done(standing position) to see the exact cause of it

Await your reply

Sorry for the late reply..Had.a busy 2 days

Well your symptoms do look like osteoarthritis of the knees is starting as the earliest signs are difficulty in getting up and climbing or getting down stairs. It is basically a process of denigration where the cartilage is wearing off..To confirm we need to get an X ray of the knees done in standing position

As for treatment wise..You have to start exercises..focusing on quadriceps..2.Avoid using stairs wherever u can...3. avoid sitting on the floor or cross legged..4. I am not sure about your weight but it should match your BMI

Finally I would say dont worry..it looks like the start but should stop here if we take all.precautions
