Posted on Mon, 16 Feb 2015
Question: I have been taking percoets everyday for three years anywhere from 5 to 18, in the last several months it as been at least 15. I awoke in the middle of the night sweating profusely with diarreahh and a constants dull pain in my lower abdomen. My poop is a rust color but I have a period on top of that as I just finished medroxyprogresterone and I get a period. I am terrified but I have no insurance coverage. what do I do to ease this pain?

Brief Answer:
The key point about addiction

Detailed Answer:
is a disordered thought process. This takes several features but focusing on obtaining the drug to the exclusion of all else is probably the key point about addiction. this has several consequences. Using the drug and seeking it, even when the consequences are very bad is the result of the disordered thought process that has generally become the definition of addiction (when it should be the underlying thought disorders).
Cannot say in your particular case without an exam BUT,
rust colored stool .. while it might be because one ate beets the day before... or if one were to have pepto bismal... MOSTLY it means serious gastrointestinal bleeding that can be harmful or fatal. Focussing not on that but on obtaining drugs might indicate an addiction issue perhaps?

Being terrified, and mentioning the amount of narcotics, implying they are obtained outside of the medical establishment, all indicate that the person at some level knows there is a narcotic problem. Being in acute withdrawal and likely having a serious medical complication from it strongly imply a need for an emergency room visit, cannot say in your paricular case for certain without an exam, but it seems quite plausible

I submitted my request at a minimum of 15 minutes ago. Help!

Thank you. I kno4 I have an addiction issue. I have constant p0ain in my lower abdomen. I ate no beets. I fear I have internal bleeding. Problem is my insurance coverage is not in place.
Do you think I should have ambulance and emergency. I was sweating profusely at 4am finally after a brief moment of minimal vomiting, I then had terrible pain. The pain relented for a bit but now that up and about, I have pain. I'm now lying down and am using a heating pad. Is there anything I should eat, or take? I have no appetite and am full of fear. If I go to emergency do I just say I od'd on those pills how do they stop bleeding? I think the way it looks when I poop, as little as there is, it is no doubt rust colored and the only thing I ate was tomatoes. I'm afraid but really afraid I'm going to leave with a $60k XXXXXXX Thnk you.

Thank you. I know I have an addiction issue. Now that I've been lying down with a heating pad on my abdomen, I feel less pain. Isurance coverage is not in place.

Brief Answer:
general guidelines.

Detailed Answer:
Some of the signs of serious abdominal issues would include but not be limited to pain, feeling of ripping, stool that looks like it might be blood (rust colored, maroon, blood colored certainly; BUT more often, the blood has broken down/been digested and is black and tar-like). An emergency room XXXXXXX is certainly better than dying. ONE thousand dollars would cover most emergency room entire bills including testing including abdominal CT (maybe not ambulance which often is about 300-500). There is often a lot of financial assistance that gets arranged after an emergency room visit also. Bottom line, if not fainting or other serious signs then often someone else driving if they can leave immediately might substitute for ambulance, and if the person might collapse on the way, then ambulance. Or if nobody can drive for an hour or more and the situation is like active bleeding, then ambulance.

I just went to the bathroom; my pain there, but not as bad. I passed a very loose output in terms of a bowel movement, It's red, not a lot passed; it's not bright; more like residual diarreaha, but more red than brown.

Brief Answer:
progressively more red stool

Detailed Answer:
would certainly imply bleeding and would be an indication to go to get evaluated immediately.
