Question: I have been having wheezing symptoms for over a month. I was having allergic like attacks but got tested and I have no allergies. Was told that I am sensitive to air pollution. I have been taking nasal spray and I haven't had those allergy like attacks since then but my wheezing is still there. I started taking Mucinex in Friday and it has helped. However, I didnt take it last night and woke up with some wheezing again. I'm not having any trouble breathing or exercising. I alone hear popping like sounds in my ears on occasions.

Brief Answer:
Better to get done PFT.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of asthma is more likely.
So better to consult pulmonologist in person and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
If PFT is showing obstructive defect then you will need inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone).
Please let me know if you have ever undergone PFT.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
