I Have Been Having Middle Back Pain - Only Left

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Oct 2018
Question: I have been having middle back pain - only left side for last 10 days. Pain started when i lifted some weight in the gym in an awkward posture. Current examination is diagnosed as a muscle spasm. I have to travel internationally on Tuesday and hence concerned about the constant pain. Pain increases when standing/walking and if i sit straight. I have attached the prescription issued along with a picture showing pain area. The pain medication given is not helping. The Dr who diagnosed ruled out a need for MRI. I had a an X-ray and it shows everything normal.
Any recommendations?

Brief Answer:
Seems to be a muscle spasm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have gone through your query and understand your health concerns ,
I have seen the attached reports and prescription. You have pain due to muscle spasm only. The medicines prescribed are correct and will bring relief in next few days. Doing a hot compress and application of local analgesic gel will also help. Avoid stressing your back too much and avoid the painful movements.

I hope this answers your query.

The pain medication is still not helping. The pain is also reflecting now towards my left ribs. Can this be pain because of kidney stone?

Brief Answer:
Muscle spasm is likely.

Detailed Answer:
The pain that you have towards the left ribs can be due to a muscle spasm also. The pain due to renal stone does not change with change in posture and is usually associated with a burning in urination. However an ultrasound scan can rule this out. You can now do a hot compress and increase the dosage of Myoril to thrice a day and see if it helps.
Regards.
