Brief Answer:
PREAURICULAR PIT SURGERY

Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor"service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

Yes....Preauricular pits can easily be removed surgically.

Though they are harmless and usually do not require any intervention but if there are repeated infections (thus requiring recurrent antibiotics),surgery is considered.

This is usually done on day care basis and under local anaesthesia or short general anaesthesia.

It is a simple procedure and devoid of any complications and risks.
A mild antibiotic and pain killers are dispensed after the surgery.

Though different insurance companies and TPAs have different terms and conditions but usually congenital defects are not covered under most policies.

Hope that I have answered your query.
Stay healthy and stay blessed.
