Brief Answer:
not a usual presenting symptom, neck pain usually due to muscle spasm

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable with a family history of multiple myeloma, to be concerned with this diagnosis but this is not a typical presentation of this disease. In addition, at the moment, it is not thought to be an inherited cancer even though it can occur in family members- it is not thought to be inherited.
In the US the risk of getting MM is 4.8 to 15.9 persons per 100 000 persons depending on race.
At the moment , the risk of getting multiple myeloma in the general population is 5 out of 100 000 , with a family history it is 10 out of 100 000- these are UK rates.

Multiple myeloma can present with bone pain but this is usually in the lower back.

The most common reason for stiff neck is spasm of the muscles of the neck. The pain killer should be combined with a muscle relaxant for a maximum effect.
Muscle relaxants include XXXXXXX flexeril, norflex, zanaflex

In addition, a warm compress to the affected area 2 to 4 times a day for 15 to 20 mins, would also help to relax the muscles and aid in pain relief.
You can also consider using a different anti inflammatory to see if a different one would work better for you eg cataflam, celebrex or aleve

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
